Alves: Dybala won't improve at Juve

Juventus full-back Dani Alves belives that his team-mate Paulo Dybala will need to leave Turin if he intends to reach his full potential as a player.

The former Barcelona defender, signed in 2016 ahead of the Old Lady's fifth consecutive successful Serie A campaign, admitted to having urged the club's star player to consider a move away from Italy.

Dybala has long been linked with a transfer to perennial La Liga contenders Real Madrid and Barcelona, a switch Alves believes will be necessary if the Argentine forward is ever to reach the next level in his development as a player.

"La Joya [Dybala's nickname] will bear fruit," Alves told Esporte Interativo.

"We have spoken many times and I told him that one day, I do not know when, he will have to leave Juventus to improve even more," he added.

The 34-year old went on to discuss what he hopes lies ahead of him as his glittering career heads towards an end.

"Last year I turned down many offers from the Premier League because I felt I had to go to Serie A," he said.

"There is a great defensive culture, and to go and play in England you have to know how to defend well. I hope that one day I will go there."

When asked about the likelihood of such a move happening, Alves simply said: "Who knows? We'll see."

The three-time Champions League winner has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent months.

The London club is likely to lose the services of current right-back Kyle Walker, whose relationship with manager Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly broken down beyond repair.
